Guest sentiment
A snapshot of what local diners frequently mention about this location.
"We just walked in without a reservation with the kids, the food was delicious. You can see that it was freshly prepared from good quality fish. The service was great, not everyone speaks English but there was always someone who spoke and there was no problem with communication. The portions were big and really tasty and the prices were affordable, I have the impression that they were even low for such good quality food. If I am nearby I will definitely visit again."
"For an unforgettable seafood experience in Alicante, Mesón Marinero is the place to go. Every dish we tried was fantastic, but a few stood out. The turbot, prepared using the brothers' mom's recipe, was a true highlight—flavorful and perfectly cooked. We also highly recommend the delicious octopus potato salad and the tender, grilled baby calamari. We're already planning our next visit."
"Hidden gem on the way from the airport. Local restaurant. One of the best pulpo i had, good chipirones and amazing corvina with chilli and red pepper"
"We had lunch today, everything was wonderful. I can highly recommend the restaurant."
"Very classy place, great for a nice, quiet lunch. The service is very distinguished, especially the owner who recommended the dish that is his mother's best recipee. The place is a family business for many years, the food is impressive and if you area wine enthuziast, you will surely like it."
"One of the best meals I had in Spain so far. We wanted to have nice lunch since it looked great in the reviews. It exceeded my already high expectations. The restaurant is nice and cozy with a very warm feel. The staff was super nice and helpful, even though I barely spoke any Spanish. But the most important part was the food. It was simply great, we had a variety seafood dishes and also a steak. The food was fresh and had a very well balanced seasoning, the octopus ist superb. The streak was also well prepared, great char on the crust and made as we wanted, medium rare. Great place quite abit out of the city center but definitely worth the drive there."
"During my visit to Alicante, I had the pleasure of dining at Mesón Marinero, and it quickly became one of the best restaurant experiences I’ve had in a long time. This family run gem embodies everything you want from an authentic dining experience: passion, warmth, and exceptional food. One of the owners, who was also serving, made the lunch truly special. His enthusiasm for food and wine was contagious. He took the time to describe several bottles of wine in detail, helping us choose the perfect pairing for our meal. The attention to detail and personal touch made it feel like we were dining in someone’s home. The food? Simply outstanding. The Turbot in Castreña Way is an absolute must-try, perfectly cooked, rich in flavor, and beautifully presented. Every dish was a celebration of local ingredients and tradition. To top it all off, the owner returned at the end of the meal with a selection of sweet wines for us to try, showcasing the same care and passion as before. I can’t wait to go back to Mesón Marinero. This place is a true reflection of what makes Spanish hospitality so special. Highly recommended!"
"Best turbo fish ever. Definitely try russian octopus salad and their desert. This rest is run by a family and one of the brothers was so helpful explained us everything."
